SCD Livelihoods

We define SCD Livelihoods as building patient and households' capacity and capability to live and thrive with sickle cell.

We organize and group patients and caregivers into community support groups (CSGs). We empower these CSGs through SCD education; peer support resources, mental health and income generating activities targeting groups including savings, loans and Village Savings and Loans Associations.

We link these groups to government and partner led social support programs to continue accessing resources for empowerment including grants, programs addressing food security and economic empowerment.

They as well lead sickle cell advocacy and awareness initiatives within their local communities.
