LEADERSHIP

Founder & Executive Director
Lea leads ASCO. She was in her 3rd year of university when she embarked on the 10003 Warrior Project. An initiative that allowed her to tell stories of 400 people with SCD in Kenya. The stark reality of Sickle
Cell in Kenya was made clear and she went on to attempt to solve sickle cell.
Post university, Lea took the time to create awareness and advocate for SCD in the most rural and influential spaces. She later decided to move back to her ancestral home to understand what it would take to make SCD patients thrive.
She established the Africa Sickle Cell Organization in 2018 dedicated to saving sickle cell lives in rural Africa. She increasingly understood the components to healthy lives for people with SCD; access to affordable early and continuous care close to people, addressing social issues within which patients and their households live, and advocacy and awareness at all levels and rooms of concern
Over her 10 years of advocacy, Lea has educated communities and stakeholders to understand and solve SCD collaboratively. She has a business degree and masters in global health delivery from the University of Global Health Equity.
She spends her time away from work in stillness, at the ocean.
